Meet Jessica – Owner, Designer and Wedding Planner

You know you want a beautiful wedding, but you’re overwhelmed with where to start.

You have a vision for your wedding, but not sure how to bring it all together.

JessicaGelder-ShineEventsMy Dear, Beautiful Bride, that’s why I am here!

As a former collegiate and Olympic athlete, I bring a unique and distinct set of skills and experiences to your wedding planning dreams. I know what commitment, vision and hard work look like and the same drive that took me to the Olympic Games will be the same drive and passion that I give to your wedding vision.

After eight years as a coordinator, including at the collegiate and professional sports levels, I decided to turn my focus to the beautiful world of weddings. (I left the sports world because I knew I didn’t want to be married and living out of a suitcase.) As beautiful as weddings are, I believe the marriage itself is so much more important and that belief also plays a roll in how I manage Shine Events.

At Shine Events, your wedding planning experience is my top concern (besides putting on a beautiful, amazing wedding of course!) With this in mind, I only accept a limited number of clients each wedding season. This allows me to devote more time and attention to each wedding, my brides, grooms and their families. You are more than just another wedding on the calendar and another client in my portfolio.

I was raised in Southern California on softball and old classic country music. I played softball at the University of Iowa where we won the Big Ten Conference (twice!), I was an NCAA All-American and played in the College World Series. I married my husband in 2007 and we have 3 children; Luke, Grace and Kate. I always thought I would be a college softball coach (or a CIA spy! Yes, I am totally serious!) and sometimes I can’t believe that I bring wedding dreams to life.

I teach strength and conditioning classes because I love to help women of all ages learn how strong they are. I love Star Trek, dessert at any hour of the day and historical novels. Pearls are my favorite accessory and I dream of putting a batting lane in the backyard for the kids to take batting practice when they are older. (Ok, that’s weird, but I promise I’m not a crazy sports parent. Its just convenient.)

God is good, and life is crazy. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
