As Nell’s mom tells it, Nell has always marched to the beat of her own drum. A favorite story that she told during her wedding toast was that in second grade, Nell informed everyone that she would no longer go by her given name of Caroline, but by Nell. And so it was no surprise that when it was time to plan her wedding, Nell would be anything but traditional, even right down to her dress.
As we planned their destination wedding and toured all the usual locations, it just wasn’t what they had in mind. Our last stop took us out to the base of the Superstition Mountains. Right away, Nell and Matt knew it was exactly what they had been dreaming of for their wedding day.
When planning a destination wedding to a remote location, it’s important to secure an A-List team of vendors to execute every aspect of the day. This location required us to plan for every kilowatt of power, every ounce of water, spoon, fork, table….everything, including how we were going to transport every guest to and from the location. And we LOVED it!! Logistical challenges are one of the parts of our job that we excel at and this wedding required it all.
In addition to the logistical elements, their wedding design was full of jaw-dropping details. We embraced Nell’s love of the desert, texture, and the Saguaro Cactus to guide each element. There were truly so many stunning details! A few of my favorite pieces were the sunset colors of her flowers and the seating escort display featuring an assortment of metal saguaro cacti and flower accents. And of course, it should go without saying, her stunning and one-of-a-kind Oscar de la Renta dress. It was the true show-stopper of the whole day.
Nell and Matt, it was such a dream and an honor to bring your destination wedding to life. Thank you for trusting me and the Shine Events team with every detail. I loved getting to know you and your families.

Jess is a true gem. Saying she made our dream wedding come to life would be an understatement. We really wanted our wedding to be a once in a lifetime experience for not only ourselves but our guests as well and she blew it out of the water!! Our wedding had a million moving parts (to say the least) – we got married out at the base of Superstition Mountains, where there is no running water, electricity or cell service. She never once seemed stressed and always carried herself with grace and a smile on her face. She helped keep us on schedule and made the entire process so upbeat and fun! I never dreaded a phone call from her because I knew if there was any issue she would take care of it instantly. One of the hotels we had booked for a room block ended up being bought out by a large company and last minute they cancelled all room reservations and not for a single second was I worried about finding a backup because I KNEW Jess could handle it. She resolved the issue and didn’t seem to break a sweat! My family was worried about how unbothered I was by it but I have Jess to thank for making sure I felt no stress.
When we first hired Jess our vision for the wedding was kind of all over the place and she helped tailor it down to the most beautiful and magical weekend. The relationships she has with all her vendors helped us get exactly what we wanted! I cannot say enough positive things about the team she created – photographers, stationary, DJ, live music, chefs, floral and rentals. I don’t think there’s another planner out there who could have pulled this off. We also asked her to plan our rehearsal dinner and wowww… everyone’s jaw dropped when they saw the beautiful scene she had set.
If you’re in the market for a planner look no further! I cannot recommend Jess and her team enough. If I could give her higher than a five star review I would!
